OUROBOROS

Long ago, my metal friend…I had given you a prophecy. As a holy servant, you took upon its execution with zeal—now, you must catalyze what has been put into motion.

Your orders, said the iron judge, kneeling in unbroken darkness, are all I need, and all I desire.

Long ago, I had given you a prophecy. The eyes of the universe had seen the limits of nothingness broken, and I predicted to you that its womb would give to existence a human. A human of unimaginable power would be born. He would breathe life into stars before startled eyes, and in the same breath wreak the havoc of a supernova seven-fold. He would cut through armies as the most graceful of dancers cut through the air. His eyes would be the yin and the yang, his existence on the very verge of nothing and everything from the moment he was born. I have told you about this human…and now, it is time for him to come to fruition. His power blooms like the newborn galaxy, my reborn son. And another power, a power…akin to my own, seeks him as well. You must take action.”

That I shall, said the voice’s disciple. But, I must ask…what will become of the world when you have this human?

Are you still in the dark? The voice was patient.

Metal grated against metal as the casket body of the disciple rose from its iron knee. All my life I was told that yours was a force to fear…that yours was a force of unimaginable horror, something beyond any demon in any religion. And though I know to trust that your way is right…what will the end of the world look like, when you’ve gone about it?

Haha…my son! Holy deputy, he who has taken life after death—you don’t see the contradiction in your speak? Foolsy, folksy tongue rattles foolsy, folksy thoughts. The beauty of the end of the world…is that existence continues. The world as we see it, know it, experience it, will carry on, in some ways and others. We just won’t be here to tarnish the great pane that is the Universe. We will be lowly once more. Meek once more. Unconscious once more.
