Author's Note

Good day, reader. I am your narrator, and this is a story that I have written chronicling the adventures of a group of young folk, in a world that has been devastated by war, and then resuscitated by a twist in reality. You will meet drunkards, nihilists, mercenaries, and all sorts of fun and lovable people, and get to know some of my favorite parts of the cities I grew up in, reimagined. And I hope with all my heart that you’ll enjoy this story, and that it gives you the same sort of feeling reading it that it gives me when I write it. This story is my one connection to the world outside me, and more than anything I want someone to resonate with the burning passions and white-hot desires within me.

Before I send you off into our little adventure, let me give a few pointers:

-The currency in this world, or at least between all stable and running governments and their people, is the Universal Currency. A unit is valued at about half the worth of a 2019 American dollar.

-The population of Earth, including humans and extraterrestrials, numbers at about 2.2 billion, after the Revolution (which you will learn about soon enough).

-Any noise you come across is strictly to be ignored.
